Our Team
Sarah Harrington, Principal
Greetings Ivey Ranch Family,
My name is Sarah Harrington and I am thrilled and honored to be the principal at Ivey Ranch Elementary School. I come to you, first and foremost, as a mother and wife to my incredible family. Simeon is 20 years old, and just finished his freshman year in college. Angel is 16 years old, and just finished up his sofmore year of high school. My husband, Doug, is a brilliant, retired Marine and Navy Officer, a kind, loving father, and supportive spouse.
I believe in the importance of family. The values of belonging, having each-others’ backs, supporting one another, treating ourselves and others with kindness, holding one another accountable, and caring deeply for each and every member. These values are what I hold dear in a school community. A school is more than a community, it is a family. A family based on these same values of belonging, having each-others’ backs, supporting one another, treating ourselves and others with kindness, holding one another accountable, and caring deeply. These values are embedded in who I am as a mother, wife, leader, and educator. While these values are what I live out each day, my passion for kids is what fuels me.
Kids are the reason why I do what I do. They are valuable, important, and loved in this school, in this community, in this family we call Ivey Ridge Elementary School. I am excited to get to know them, to spend time with them in their classrooms, at lunch, and at recess. I look forward to talking with them about what they are learning and their interests. They are our future, they are our hope, they are our legacy. I am so thankful that you are sharing your child, your most prized possession, with Ivey Ranch Elementary every day; trusting that we are ‘all in’ for kids and allowing us to partner with you to develop and enrich the life of your child. What an honor! What a responsibility! What a privilege! We are in the most amazing profession. The secret is out!
My goal is to maximize the potential in each child. This goal has driven me in each role I have played as an educator since 2003. I have taught all grades (K – 5) as a classroom and ESOL teacher. Noticing that some of the students in my class struggled with reading, I sought to learn more about literacy as I strived to see each of my students succeed. This is why I became certified as a K-12 Reading/Language Arts Specialist with a Masters in Education. Prior to administration, I was propelled to ensure that students who face the challenge of learning English and content are provided an equitable, challenging, and world class education. I served as an English Learner Program Specialist providing professional development and guidance to K-12 educators and administrators. Seeking to make a positive impact for 100% of kids at the school level, I have proudly served as an Assistant Principal and Principal after obtaining my Masters in Educational Leadership and administrative certification.
I find leadership profoundly rewarding. To be able to make a difference in the lives of students, staff and a community is a privilege and an honor… one I don’t take lightly.
Kids are my passion. They give me fuel, they energize me, they propel me to be my best every day. I believe that every child deserves a champion. I will be their champion every day in every decision. I am 100% committed to doing what is best for kids every day, to making each decision about what is best for kids – not just what is good for kids, but what is best. I am chasing 100 every day: 100% commitment, with 100% passion, to reach 100% of kids. I look forward to chasing 100 every day with each of you.
I look forward to getting to know you and taking advantage of opportunities to build our relationship throughout the school year.
Sincerely,
Sarah Harrington
Jessica Goss, Assistant Principal
Hello Ivey Ranch Community!
My name is Jessica Goss, and I am the Assistant Principal. I have proudly served in Oceanside Unified for many years as a classroom teacher, Teacher on Special Assignment, and Interim Assistant Principal. I am thrilled to be back at Ivey Ranch, where I was a student teacher almost twenty years ago!
I am the proud mother of three: James is a graduate of California State University San Marcos, Lily is beginning her freshman year of high school, and Elliott is excited to be in fourth grade this year. I vow to approach interactions with our students the way I would want my own children approached, and to hold others accountable to do the same.
I believe strong, trusting relationships are the foundation of effective public education. Working relationships among all school personnel, students, and their caregivers It is only when these relationships are positively established that learning can occur.
I look forward to an awesome school year with all of you!
